The Praxis series of testing covers the basics
that a teacher should know to be successful in the classroom. Roughly
80% of states that require tests as a portion of their teacher licensing
process rely on the Praxis tests. It is becoming increasingly more
popular for colleges and universities to use the basic academic skills
assessments as an evaluation tool regarding students applying to
enter teacher education programs.
The three categories of assessments
within Praxis match to the three primary milestones in teacher development:

The Praxis tests are backed by extensive research,
including a complete job analysis of the most important tasks and
skills required of beginning teachers and extensive surveys to
confirm test validity. Developed by educators for educators, advisory
committees of education professionals help determine test content
and review, revise and approve all questions and exercises.
We believe that the same standards can
be applied to instructors in a post-secondary learning environment.
To help those of you already using Praxis or who want
to use Praxis for instructor evaluation, the Pearson Instructor
Education collection is mapped to the various Praxis domains. |
